Healthcare and Life Sciences

Infosys commissioned a study of 61 senior executives from healthcare and life sciences organizations with revenues of over USD 500 million across the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The respondents were senior executives involved in cybersecurity initiatives representing both technology and business functions.

The survey was aimed at understanding the cybersecurity initiatives for the healthcare and life sciences industry. Some interesting findings are:

  • 61% in the healthcare and life sciences industry have a well-defined enterprise-wide strategy/roadmap implemented
  • Respondents in the healthcare and life sciences industry are chiefly concerned about hackers and hacktivists (85%), insider threats (80%) and low awareness about security risks among employees (80%)
  • The top three problems that enterprises face are building a security-first culture (75%), embedding security in the enterprise IT architecture (67%), and poor integration between tools and solutions (66%)
  • Healthcare and life sciences firms focus on training and certifications (61%), integrated solutions over point solutions (59%), workshops (49%) and creating a culture of employee awareness (49%) to overcome the challenges
  • To counter threats and attacks, enterprises have deployed solutions such as encryption (68%) identity and access management (66%), and risk and compliance (66%)
